Renkin - 2016 opens intensely medicinal—sterile, sharp, and exceptionally clean. There is an almost clinical clarity to the first impression, touched by a faint metallic copper note that gives the oil a cool, mineral edge. Far in the background sits a subtle marijuana-like greenness, dry and herbal rather than sweet, adding another layer to its medicinal character.

As it develops, the oil becomes greener without ever losing that sense of cleanliness. It feels like a wet jungle stripped of heaviness: rain-soaked leaves, fresh stems, cool air, and clean green humidity. The profile is so layered and composed that it can almost feel like a finished perfume rather than an oud distilled from a single tree.

Through the mids, a very clean incense note begins to appear—cool, transparent, and distinctly minty. There is no dense smoke or sweetness here. Instead, the incense feels purified, almost antiseptic, moving through the greenery with a cold freshness.

What makes it especially striking is the way this incense seems to arrive from behind, suddenly catching the nose after the sharper medicinal opening has begun to settle. The result is an unusually pristine Sri Lankan oud: deeply medicinal, metallic, green, minty, and relentlessly clean.
